Maker Scarlett Markham is actually a former Parkleigh employee! She developed her line, Flour Pail Kids while working here. We thought our customers would be as amused by it as we are by Scarlett. Her quirky sense of humor mixes nostalgic icons with the edge of today to inspire her work. What could be more full of Rochester spirit than a tiny Genny Beer pin? Her Rochester icon t-shirts are also a stand out among others around town. When Scarlett isn’t designing or doing...Read rest of Chalk

It started with just a few cards. Cordel Cordaro’s whimsical birds on greeting cards literally flew out of our MacKenzie-Childs store. Customers started talking about having his art in their homes and seeing it out in the community. We even heard touching stories about his commissioned work and the heartfelt thought that went into creating special art for Rochestarians. We realized we had a good fit on our hands and starting carrying his prints, ornaments, originals and...Read rest of Chalk

Meet Venita D'Angelo. Her company, Light Essentials, is our longest running YEA competition winner. Each year winners from the Young Entrepreneurs Academy are given a limited time to sell at Parkleigh. Her candles were such a hit we continue to sell them years after the original contract. We even had her create a signature scent Parkleigh candle. With profits going toward college, and a bright future ahead, we asked her to share how she’s achieving her success.

We love getting our shipments from BlueQ. As well as being full of fun stuff you like to buy, they offer jokes, tips, and tiny treasures like these. What are these? Tiny art pieces from their Art and Assembly Department.
This department is led by staff with and without disabilities and has been with BlueQ for 25 years!!
Bravo, BlueQ for being such an inclusive employer and for sharing the love with us.

Meet Renee Jacobson. She’s super excited to be our newest local artist. Fans find her colorful work inspiring and healing. Our hearts were warmed after spotting the street art of Mr. Rodgers waving at us under an overpass on the way to work on day. We were fans of Dellarious before we even really knew what it was. His pictures of iconic Rochester places, his portraits of musical legends, and social justice heroes both local and global have found a perfect home at Parkleigh. We wanted to know more about the creative and activist spirit of Mike Dellaria and how he generates these incredible ...Read rest of Chalk

Hanalin Designs fashion forward jewelry is made right in the Park Avenue neighborhood. It doesn’t get more local than this! Parkleigh started off with just a few earrings and they caught on like wildfire. In just a few months we had enough interest to bring our neighborhood treasure, Hannah Caruso, maker, to meet her fans in person at a trunk show. The event was a hit and put her in a top vendors slot! An amazing effort, beating out big name brands, in less than a year! ...Read rest of Chalk

Rachel Cordaro started off with just a few cards in our MacKenzie-Childs Department. Our customers loved them! We quickly expanded her selection and her art pieces have developed quite the following! Rachel’s brand is now one of our top 50 vendors!! Out of the 1,000s of brands we carry her art and vision is really speaking to our guests! We love supporting local artists and are thrilled by Rachel’s success. Our MacKenzie-Childs manager asked her some behind the easel ...Read rest of Chalk
